4th July We have lift off! I fly from Heathrow at 18:50 - for a quick flight change in Madrid onto the 8 hour flight to Santiago Chile
Arriving in Santiago at 07:40 on the 5th July (I assume this is GMT, don't have a clue what that will be local time!)
5th - 6th July I am staying in a hostel in Santiago for 2 days (no doubt most which of I will spend catching up on some much needed sleep!)
7th - ?? July This is where the fun starts!!!! I shall be jumping on a coach and heading up through Chile along the Pan-Andean highway on my way to peru.
This trip will probably take around 4 days! (its a long way!) not sure whether I'll stay on the coach the whole way or maybe stop off for a days rest at somewhere along the route - I'll work that out when I get there!
Mid July I hope I will be in Peru by now, deffinate places I shall be visiting are Arequipa and Lake Titicaca I may try and squeeze in a trip to the Nazca lines here too, but thats a whole lot of travelling, and probably not much sleeping, so I'll see how it goes.
21st July Arrival in Cusco! Cusco will be a base of operations for the next 2 weeks, apart from the city itself being worth a visit, this is wher I'll head out on my two main trips.
25th - 29th July Inca Trail - Machu Picchu. The 4 day trek up a mountain to the ruins of a large Inca city on top of a mountain. (This is something I've wanted to see for years and the basis for this whole trip - I hope its good!)
29th July - 2nd August Bumming around cusco!
3rd - 7th August Rainforest - A five day trip into the rainforest! (Emma - if I find a chicken eating spider I'll try and grab it for you!) Take a look Here if you want some more information.
8th -14th August I will head over to Lima now, to see the countries capital, I will no doubt stay for a day or two and sample the local cuisine!
14th - 19th August Who knows?? - Perhaps I will take in the Nazca lines if I didn't do it earlier what I do now depends on time and money! The trip back from Lima to Santiago is (very) long one, I may decide to explore more and pay for a flight back (good old barclaycard!) rather than spend a week on a coach.
19th - 21st August Heading home (booooo) I leave santiago at 12:10 to arrive at 06:55 in madrid! (by my calculations thats a 18 hour flight! (I hope theres some time zone thing going on here!) I get to spend a day in Madrid before heading back to Heathrow at 17:30, and will reach Britain around 7pm. This is where the joys of british transport kick in and I'll get back to Leeds at 5:15am!!! (Yawn!)
Wish Me Luck!
